LEATHER FEATHERS

The main problem of feather earrings is that they don’t like coming in touch with water, which is basically bad when you life close to the sea.

I just found the solution on ETSY. The feathers are made of faux leather and are sold by LOVE SEXTON out of Minnesota. They are painted and come in different sizes, colors and prints…here my favorites…

SWIMMING POOL BLUE, PINK FLAMINGOS AND PIN-UP GIRLS

The color for next summer…IT’S SO BLUE…and the new name “swimming pool blue”…sounds like good life…

Holly Fulton got it as well, the BLUE. The inspiration for her new s/s 2013 RTW collection came from a trip to LA, where she was for the first time earlier this year: “I was really struck by the saccharine optimism that permeates the place.”

The American Dream, it is back…! The pin-up girl, swimming pools…pink flamingos, lemon yellows and Sunset Boulevard, Instagram light and a skater girl.

The 60′s skater girl superstar Patti McGee was her muse (first professional female skateboarder in history). A blue-eyed blonde with a dream, fearless to compete against the boys, her bouffant of peroxide hair and a squeaky-clean sex appeal, the starting point for the whole collection.

And here they are, my favorite pieces from the new Holly Fulton collection for s/s 2013.

A QUESTION ABOUT FREEDOM

Beautiful, the first image. So strong and light….not innocent, more wise.

This is about a designer, Lilia Yip, based in the UK, born in Singapore.

Her designs are for the intelligent woman who has an inquisitive mind, a big heart and a sense of humour.

She balances the wearable, the surreal and the conceptual, always ready to challenge pre-conceived notions of what fashion should be in a quiet way.

The choice of the model, the colors, the light, the garments, the designers explanation ….created a fairytale out of the images and I tried to put them together as one little photostory…enjoy!

If you want to see more from the collection and meet the designer better, you can click here (it will bring you to the website of MUUSE, a great place to find young talented designers.)

ASTRAL PLANE

In brown leather shorts and just a black body-painted top Dree Hemingway (the great-grand daughter of Ernest Hemingway), explores for the Australian jewelry brand MANIAMANIA other dimensions from planet earth for the new collection “ASTRAL PLANE” .

Inspiration is drawn from the warped symbols and telepathic visions experienced by dreamers and astral travellers. Homage is paid to advocates of psychic and spiritual development such as The Theosophical Society established by Helena Blavatsky in 1875 and psychologist and dream analyst Carl Jung.

Art Nouveau flowers, snakes and skulls adorn the pieces looking amazing on the black body paint. Amazing location and images (here my favorite ones)

DREAM DAY

It was Berlin’s fashion week which attracted the people in the fashion the last passing days. Berlin, always a town of surprises and the best place to find some new upcoming designers. The duo, I’m talking about today is not new and unknown anymore. Since a few years they create clothing and accessories that enclose the most fantastic stories.

LEITMOTIV by Fabio Sasso and Juan Caro, two Italian designers living in Bologna. Fabio in the part of the baroque tailor and Juan in the part of the precisely gothic artist, that’s roles they play in their daily lives as fashion designers leaving behind a soft and colorful melody whenever they come out of their musicbox.

This time I saw them in Berlin presenting the new s/s collection for 2013. The collection travels with the BEAT GENERATION, inspired by the book THE ROAD by Jack Kerouac, a story about crossing the country on Route 66, passing beautiful landscapes between dream and reality. Ready to go to the beach or hang out on one of the quiet pools at some Motel. There is no destination and no goal only to explore and go towards the ideal travel…to go towards “DREAM DAY”.

It was basically a man fashion show, but they gave us a little glims in the next s/s woman fashion as well and I picked most of them out for you.

Trends and upcoming trends:Turban, 50′s, american look, american dream, a tiny bit of camouflage, …prints, prints, prints…funny looking sunglasses…
