BE THE FASTEST ON THE SLIDE

268328After a very nice, quiet day on the beach I am going to share something fabulous with you. A slide in the shape of an elephant on the beach, an old playground equipment on the coast of Spain, in Girona. Elephant slide – Girona, 1975. Francesc Català-Roca.

To give you a small fashionable advise, you will beat everybody in “speed sliding” if you are wearing a “Lederhose”. (in case you don’t know what that is, watch the little boy below)

THE COLOR OF ROBIN HOOD

556281_10151319739122428_477855418_nI am not a big fan of the winter collections in general (maybe because I don’t like the winter and the colors in general go very dark and we need to put layer over layer to don’t freeze) but…I love the colors of these outfits. It reminds me my favorite superhero Robin Hood who: “STEALS FROM THE RICH, TO GIVE TO THE POOR.”

I LOVE SICILY

Going back in time and taking the traditional out of a certain place…SICILY, the famous world known Italian island. Known for traditional living and family strength. The beautiful Sicilian women, female curves, colored garments…living on the sea, striped umbrellas on the beach…the culture, the food, the lifestyle.

I love it when designers stay in their own country with the inspiration, proud to show to the world their own home place. The colors and craftsmanship in the collection give the collection the originality and mirrors perfectly the beautiful island of SICILY.

That are just a few words given to this amazing collection of Dolce & Gabbana s/s 2013.
I remember the two weeks I spend in Sicily (Palermo) about 15 years ago. I was invited to stay in a friend’s house, a Sicilian family, and was amazed about their strong relationships in the family. I didn’t visit more than the town but I lived on a similar island for a while (Crete, Greece) and I know what means island life with strong traditions, sun…sea and family units. I’m absolutely sure that I will visit and spend some more time traveling through Sicily very soon. In the meantime I enjoy watching this beautiful collection.

GREETINGS FROM THE DOLOMITES

I have been on holidays…one week in the Dolomites, (Italian Alps). If you ever plan to make holidays in the mountains I highly recommend this place. Hiking or mountain biking…the trails are marked perfectly…skiing or snowboarding…there the kids start when they are 2. It’s cold there in the winters, and sometimes snows during the summers. But it can be also very hot. Many lakes you can find…refresh yourself after a nice walk…

They speak an Austrian dialect there, but they are Italian nationals…a big history lies behind them…traditions are kept alive…and traditional clothes are worn by waiters in restaurants and hotel employees to give a traditional feeling to the guests.

The Dolomites are part of the UNESCO natural world heritage list. One of the most visited mountains are the “DREI ZINNEN” (ital. Tre Cime di Lavaredo). And here they are…on the image behind me…

I’m back now on my beautiful island admiring the sea and as always when you send a postcard, it arrives at its destination when you are back home…The same with this postcard…to all of you:

GREETINGS FROM THE DOLOMITES :)
