I LOVE SICILY

Going back in time and taking the traditional out of a certain place…SICILY, the famous world known Italian island. Known for traditional living and family strength. The beautiful Sicilian women, female curves, colored garments…living on the sea, striped umbrellas on the beach…the culture, the food, the lifestyle.

I love it when designers stay in their own country with the inspiration, proud to show to the world their own home place. The colors and craftsmanship in the collection give the collection the originality and mirrors perfectly the beautiful island of SICILY.

That are just a few words given to this amazing collection of Dolce & Gabbana s/s 2013.
I remember the two weeks I spend in Sicily (Palermo) about 15 years ago. I was invited to stay in a friend’s house, a Sicilian family, and was amazed about their strong relationships in the family. I didn’t visit more than the town but I lived on a similar island for a while (Crete, Greece) and I know what means island life with strong traditions, sun…sea and family units. I’m absolutely sure that I will visit and spend some more time traveling through Sicily very soon. In the meantime I enjoy watching this beautiful collection.

GREAT FORECAST FOR S/S 2013

I just came back from a little trip of visiting friends on the island of Paxos. I didn’t have a good internet connection there so I didn’t really update my blog or watched the ongoing fashion week in NY. Now I’m back on my island, we have rain for the first time this summer and I’m watching the summer forecast for next year by Michael Kors.

Clear blue water and a blue sky…It looks good for s/s 2013.

SEASONLESSNESS: ACE & JIG

I’m on holiday for a few days in the beautiful Dolomites (Italian Alps) and from my beloved living by the sea usual 45° Celsius temperature, I’m here now a little, “very much colder” 25° less. I haven’t been in the mountains during the summer for a long time so I didn’t really prepare myself for those temperatures.

So what comes in my mind today is “Seasonlessness” clothes. Travelers need to be able to pack a light suitcase ready for different temperatures. And surprise, surprise…I found a great label…

American and Brooklyn based ACE & JIG. The designers Jenna Wilson and Cary Vaughan travel to India at least once a year to create new fabrics. Together with a team of Indian weavers they create those amazing stripes in all colors, which are the main motif in their collections transforming them into soft and easy to wear items for all year around…

DREAM DAY

It was Berlin’s fashion week which attracted the people in the fashion the last passing days. Berlin, always a town of surprises and the best place to find some new upcoming designers. The duo, I’m talking about today is not new and unknown anymore. Since a few years they create clothing and accessories that enclose the most fantastic stories.

LEITMOTIV by Fabio Sasso and Juan Caro, two Italian designers living in Bologna. Fabio in the part of the baroque tailor and Juan in the part of the precisely gothic artist, that’s roles they play in their daily lives as fashion designers leaving behind a soft and colorful melody whenever they come out of their musicbox.

This time I saw them in Berlin presenting the new s/s collection for 2013. The collection travels with the BEAT GENERATION, inspired by the book THE ROAD by Jack Kerouac, a story about crossing the country on Route 66, passing beautiful landscapes between dream and reality. Ready to go to the beach or hang out on one of the quiet pools at some Motel. There is no destination and no goal only to explore and go towards the ideal travel…to go towards “DREAM DAY”.

It was basically a man fashion show, but they gave us a little glims in the next s/s woman fashion as well and I picked most of them out for you.

Trends and upcoming trends:Turban, 50′s, american look, american dream, a tiny bit of camouflage, …prints, prints, prints…funny looking sunglasses…
