ASTRAL PLANE

In brown leather shorts and just a black body-painted top Dree Hemingway (the great-grand daughter of Ernest Hemingway), explores for the Australian jewelry brand MANIAMANIA other dimensions from planet earth for the new collection “ASTRAL PLANE” .

Inspiration is drawn from the warped symbols and telepathic visions experienced by dreamers and astral travellers. Homage is paid to advocates of psychic and spiritual development such as The Theosophical Society established by Helena Blavatsky in 1875 and psychologist and dream analyst Carl Jung.

Art Nouveau flowers, snakes and skulls adorn the pieces looking amazing on the black body paint. Amazing location and images (here my favorite ones)

ABOUT A STORYTELLER

How many kinds of different ways exist to tell a story? I can come up with an amazing high number because there is no limit in phantasy and stories come to us in different forms and ways.

To leave you in the creative mood here is a very delicate and fragile one, a “sewed story”. The creator of these stories Merel Boers has her studio in Amsterdam and since 2007 she works under the name MISS BLACKBIRDY in the world fashion center creating stories and illustrations with pen and needle.

From studio Miss Blackbirdy an idyllic, magnificent world originates; a world where black and white flowers, animals and imaginative figures exist.

Miss Blackbirdy’s work has decorated several magazines covers, museums were interested to show her work and collaboration with other labels are a daily way to tell a story through a new illustration.

IN LOVE WITH NATURE

Nature, the biggest inspiration of all time. Artists, designers and creators have always been guided from mother earth.

This time I’m in Berlin, Germany with a jewelry designer who takes apart natural things as fruit wood sticks and deer horns and reconstruct them to a complete new form into a jewelry. Silke Spitzer creates exciting new design reference to nature.

FLY HIGH LITTLE BIRD

Today is an other graduate collection day. One more little bird is out in this world searching for growing bigger and flying higher than all the others or to be caught by somebody wiser, older and more experienced.

The little bird today is Yvonne Kwok, winner at this years Lichting. Her graduate collection: ”WE DANCE LIKE LITTLE MARY’S SWAYING TO THE SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION” brings amazingly any kinds of materials together creating something like a warrior outfit in pastel colors. This girls looking that she’s ready to fly high and fight strong.

TO ALL THE SUPER WOMEN

A woman can do it all, be a wife, mother, daughter, income-earner, independent-thinker, hostess, dinner-maker, family accountant, homework tutor, household organizer and ….still look amazing.

SHE CAN LEAP TALL BUILDINGS is a tribute of photographer Heidi Lender to her mother who did it in style without any complaint or sign of stress.

As I move through my own grown-up life with a mountain of responsibilities, I humbly nod to all the superwomen of the world, especially my mother, who amazingly do it all.
